This feature, designed for Fox News Health, was an indepth look into the debate over Cochlear Implants. The cochlear implant is surgically implanted on one side of the head to give hearing impaired infants the ability to hear. Parents that opt for the expensive procedure for their child have been criticized by the deaf community, because they're denying their child the ability to connect with his or her rightful identity and culture as a deaf person.
The actual shape and placement of the device became the focus of the design. I used anatomical illustrations for realism and highlighted the implant to give users perspective.
